A CHAIR WITH LIFE
In October 2020, SCAD Pro organised a 48 hour Fitness Proof Hackathon challenge wherein teams collaborated to develop innovative concepts and solutions that could enhance the fitness experience for people amidst and post pandemic.
Through our internet based research we found these staggering statistics about the scale of our disabled community, which made us extremely curious about how this community's physical and mental health has been affected due to the pandemic. Thus we picked the disabled people as our target audience and decided to develop a solution to cater a comfortable fitness solution to them.
On understanding the scale of our Target Audience, we reached out to two people who are on wheel chair assistance, to get a better perspective about how they see mental and physical fitness and the struggles they go through.
" I wish there were more opportunities for me to exercise in gyms, there are not many equipments for us."

"It's difficult to find proper fitness instructors when you're on a wheelchair"

On completing our research and interviews, we narrowed down some common observations and basic issues such as:
-- A proper physical environment is not accessible.
-- Lack of relevant assistive technology (adaptive, and rehabilitative devices)
-- Negative attitudes of people towards disability
-- Services, systems and policies are either nonexistent or hinder the involvement of people with a disability.
